Mom’s Sweet Rolls

  1. Microwave milk and thinly cut up butter in microwave.
  2. In the stand mixer bowl, combine 1 1/2 Cups of the flour and all of the yeast.
  3. Add warm milk, melted butter, sugar, and salt to the flour and yeast mixture.
  4. Add egg, beat at low speed of electric mixer for 1/2 minute, scraping bowl. Beat 3 minutes at high speed. By hand, stir in remaining flour to make a soft dough. Shape into a ball.
  5. Place in a lightly greased bowl, turn ball once to grease surface. Cover, let rise in warm place till double 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°.
  7. Punch down, turn out on floured surface. Cover, let rest for 10 minutes.
  8. Shape dough into rectangle.
  9. Mix sugar and cinnamon, then add the melted butter. Spread over dough.
  10. Roll starting at the long edge. Cut into 1-inch rolls using floss. Place cut side down in greased baking pan.
  11. Bake for 20 minutes. Frost with confectioner's icing if desired. Makes 32 rolls.
